Extensions[]

Hello. I am attempting to port over the Wowpedia tooltip functionality to the AA Wiki, but I have run into an issue. It seems that in order for the code I have to run we need to have the UsingData and DefaultLink extensions installed on this wiki. Are they? If not, could they be?--Peblairman (talk) 18:55, 28 August 2014 (UTC)

Those extensions were developed by the Wowpedia community specifically for Wowpedia. I'm not sure if we are able to use them on other wikis but I will ask. --Sigilbaram (talk) 15:30, 3 September 2014 (UTC)

Infoboxes[]

Hello I have done a bunch of work past few days and I cant find any info on how to get a infobox to show the data you enter. I have checked the parameters but it does not help me. Can you link me to a item infobox that has info in it so I can see how it done? This is RandomCamper.

Hi. I just added a bunch of that code to our {{Item infobox}} and I am working on integrating more of the data. --Sigilbaram (talk) 20:06, 25 August 2014 (UTC)
Yeah I am new to this so I am learning as I go. I have seen that page. I just don't know how to use that code to get something like Cotton. How to you put a time stamp at the end of the message? I have tons of questions about editing the wiki. Do you have a FAQ or something that had general questions about editing the wiki on it?
~~~~ is used for signing messages. There are some help pages over at help.gamepedia.com too. --Sigilbaram (talk) 23:22, 25 August 2014 (UTC)
So is there a way to pull the info from other pages and put it under a item automatically? Example if you look at Chopped Produce can you make it so that when a item links to it it will show up under a Used By section or would I have to do that by hand manually? RandomCamper (talk) 00:46, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
That is one of the things I'm working on putting together with the data from the data dump and stuff, making stuff like that more automatic. --Sigilbaram (talk) 04:02, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
New skin to Main Page[]
Hi, I can change skin of Main Page to this (css is in my own css)?
Of course, including translation. This skin is using on German archeage wiki too.
Greetings, --Rycerzodie (talk) 10:22, 13 July 2013 (UTC)
Hello! I was actually about to ask you about reusing that page when I noticed your message, but I didn't realize it was from another wiki... Are you by chance in touch with the German wiki? I feel like we should probably ask them if it is alright to use their layout, even if the CC licensing technically already says as much. If we were just translating content or whatnot I wouldn't worry as much, but skins and layouts and such are a bit more IP than facts about the game. --Sigilbaram (talk) 18:32, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
German wiki probably have this skin from Guild Wars 2 wiki. But OK, I will ask admins from german wiki/guild wars 2 wiki. --Rycerzodie (talk) 19:25, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
Can you add (or change exists) css codes, from my own css, in Common.css and others official css (without mainpage classes for now)? There contains fixed for some elements on wiki for example to diff comparison, and some classes to tables (e.g. Crafting, Gliders). --Rycerzodie (talk) 19:46, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
I added your css to MediaWiki:Hydra.css and MediaWiki:Common.css. That's a nice style on the diff pages. XD
The only issue I see is that on lower resolutions the pictures on either side of the mainpage layout get pushed under the table and at really high resolutions there is a lot of white space on either side.--Sigilbaram (talk) 20:10, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
I was thinking about it - maybe try give there some contept art? --Rycerzodie (talk) 20:30, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
I'm fiddling around with the html/css some to see if there is a better way to get that effect, while having it scale better. --Sigilbaram (talk) 20:32, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
Or main table can have max-width and min-width with margin on left and right.
Talking about using this skin here. --Rycerzodie (talk) 20:40, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
I'm don't know much about licencses, so please read this. --Rycerzodie (talk) 09:17, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
This wiki have option multiple sending files? I have a lot of icons to send (e.g. 46 for emotes). If yes, you can add me to group, which have this privileges (easy, I'm admin on polish subdomain of Runes of Magic wiki) or you can send it if I give you it? --Rycerzodie (talk) 21:19, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
The "Drop files here" at the top of the edit section is the closest we have, but it doesn't let you rename the files or categorize them, or anything really, so it's horrible from an organizational standpoint, but if you aren't renaming the files and aren't OCD about categorizing everything it "works". --Sigilbaram (talk) 15:47, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
Ok, so great. I must save it icons in JPG from DDS, so I will give they final names. But now I improvement template ;) --Rycerzodie (talk) 16:11, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
So, given the licensing issue it would probably be better if we just made a new main page. Our license is different from GW2 Wiki and some people can get REALLY zealous about those legalese things, so I'll put something else together to avoid any possible headaches. --Sigilbaram (talk) 16:22, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
I asked them "This can look like this (normal wikitable and 2 or 3 style in page [not identical], and other class name)? Or it must have other layout too?", but still I don't have answer ;/ --Rycerzodie (talk) 16:58, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
I did a new skin for the mainpage table. It is similar, but uses themes from our wiki's skin instead of the background imageand stuff from the guildwars mainpage and I basically did the CSS from scratch although it might look similar, I didn't really compare the code afterwards *shruge*. I also translated it somewhat, but it's google with some interpretation so it probably isn't perfect on some of the things. Oh and I got new images for the characters on either side from the official site. There is less pixelation around the edges and they seemed to have redesigned the female elf. I also moved it over to the main page from my sandbox so that there is at least something there for now. --Sigilbaram (talk) 20:42, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
OK, I will check translation. But maybe change minor table? You can try it by copy my own css and changing {| class="mainpage" style="margin: 0;" width="100%" to {| id="mainpagesite" width="100%" class="wikitable wikitable2" (or alternative - screenshot on big version [old]). --Rycerzodie (talk) 21:15, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
Someone from head admins should upload this favicon "img0.archeage.com/resources-201307170952/images/favicon.ico" (anti-spam...) to main folder of wiki and correct wiki name to "ArcheAge Wiki".
Can you ask someone like Wynthyst about Polish subdomain? Working will be easier to me (of course, I will be contributing to English wiki too). If anyone from they will be ask about article, say they something like this: "Now Rycerzodie creating a lot of information box e.g. about mobs and creating templates to this. He planing created a lot of articles about game (he want cooperate with the best Polish fan site about ArcheAge).".
I will be very happy, if you can transfer this questions/ideas to head admins ;) --Rycerzodie (talk) 00:04, 18 July 2013 (UTC)
I uploaded the favicon. Curse has set up the wikis so that you just upload them like any other file named "favicon.ico". I also gave you admin rights so that you can edit protected pages and delete things and such. I asked about the subdomain before and was told it was mostly my call since I'm in charge of ArcheAge Wiki, so if there are other people interested it seems worth it and I'll look into getting that set up. I also passed along a request for the sitename to be corrected. --Sigilbaram (talk) 18:28, 18 July 2013 (UTC)
Private matter[]
Can you ask peoples from curseforge about implementation time payment to PayPal? I'm waiting for 6 days for 100$ :> (Order #8566). --(Administrator) - Rycerzodie (talk) 19:45, 18 July 2013 (UTC)
Polish subdomain[]
Are you created polish subdomain? If yes, you can add me admin, and I will help you during 40 minutes (then I will have talk with the best Polish fan-site ArcheAge on TeamSpeak3. We currently don't reach agreement ;> --(Administrator) - Rycerzodie (talk) 20:15, 18 July 2013 (UTC)
I gave you admin permission on the polish subdomain. I'll export the polish category and the skin and stuff and upload them over there for you. --Sigilbaram (talk) 01:28, 19 July 2013 (UTC)
==> When created Polish subdomain of Runes of Magic, Wynthyst import to it all images, probably with command line or manualy by ftp, can you ask him about that? --(Administrator) - Rycerzodie (talk) 10:28, 19 July 2013 (UTC) <==
Sorry. I asked the server team to do this, but forgot to let you know. Looks like they didn't get to it yesterday, but hopefull they'll have it done when they get back from the weekend. --Sigilbaram (talk) 15:28, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
Translating extensions[]
Hi, recently your team added a lot of special extensions (available only to Gamepedia wikis), but it all are in English only.
I would see it in Polish, but manual translating on special page takes a lot of time (AA wiki EN, AA wiki PL, RoM wiki PL).
I was writing to curse support, but I did not get a specific answer.
You are administrator, so maybe you can answer me to that suggestion?
Greetings, --(Administrator) - Rycerzodie (talk) 20:56, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
Oh so that was you. Sorry if no one got back to you. We discussed your email some. The website you suggested only takes open source projects, and the Gamepedia extensions unfortunately are not open source. We're having a lot of discussions about how to centralize some of this stuff, like Help files and system messages. I'll bring it up with the team again and see if there is something we can do with your translations in the meantime. --Sigilbaram (talk) 00:29, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
Admin[]
Thank you. I would be happy to help out.
Mtm0860 (talk) 10:40, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
References / Spam[]
Is it possible to loosen the spam filter for the Admins? Anything that is linked to over 1-2 times is flagged as spam. It's making it very hard to cite things properly.
Mtm0860 (talk) 12:14, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
I'll look at the spam filters. I don't think they should be triggering on you since you are an established user. --Sigilbaram (talk) 15:23, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
Did it say anything about which filter you triggered? And where you logged in? I don't see you listed in the abuse filter logs. --Sigilbaram (talk) 15:34, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
Not really. Just Spam Protection Filter This website is not here to help you promote your site in search engine rankings. Going around wiki sites like this and adding irrelevant messages with links is called 'wiki spamming.' It is thoroughly anti-social, wrong, and may be illegal.
The following text is what triggered our spam filter: [XL Games Webisite] - Mtm0860 (talk) 19:52, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
It looks like this might be the SpamBlacklist extension, which we don't really use anymore. I commented out the filters it had. Let me know if that fixes you're problem. --Sigilbaram (talk) 20:58, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
Icons[]
Rycerzodie gave me an icon pack a while back. I've converted them all from .dds to png. I just got an Alpha invite so I can start sorting and renaming them properly. I'll try to have most of the non-item ones done today. - Mtm0860 (talk) 04:51, 1 May 2014 (UTC)
Cool. I'd focus mostly on skills, and status icons for now. Skills will be a major attraction with the compexity of the combo system (Those charts people made are CRAZY). I'd like to figure out a good way to display combos on here once we have more of the skill info.
Items as a whole aren't a huge thing since they are just so numerous and in the long run people will only really worry about a subset of them, such as high end equipment, ships/gliders/mounts/battle pets, and vanity items. We should probably try and focus on those kinds of items then fill in the small stuff later, just so we stay up to date. --Sigilbaram (talk) 14:55, 1 May 2014 (UTC)
Semantic Forms[]
Is there any chance we can get Semantic Forms and Semantic Forms Inputs installed please?
They're regular extensions... dump to /extensions/ and requireOnce in LocalSettings.php (forms needs to be before Forms Inputs.)
I want to setup a proper item database and these extensions are a must. Omniomi (talk) 15:58, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
I can add these extensions if you know what you are doing with them, I haven't used them myself. Curse is also looking into creating a data dump in the Data namespace that could be re-dumped as needed. --Sigilbaram (talk) 16:08, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
Also, Would what you are planning be able to work alongside the datadump? --Sigilbaram (talk) 16:09, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
Also also, I was considering a Research namespace that would appear as a tab on each page like guildwars wiki has for drop research and such. --Sigilbaram (talk) 16:10, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
A very good idea. There will be a lot of theory work here I believe. Omniomi (talk)
Yes I know what I'm doing, would greatly appreciate it... Will be creating a bunch of infobox templates that will auto populate properties for icons, value, etc... so we can just use {{Item icon|Apple Tree}} {{Item value|Chicken}} for example and have it dump the proper stuff... when you edit the items page it will update that info everywhere. Omniomi (talk) 16:14, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
Yeah I was actually going to work on that kind stuff myself pending the Data Dump. I just don't normally use the Forms extension, but it would be nice to have. You could take a look at Template:Hero_infobox on HotS wiki to see how we've bee handling data dumps recently and see how that works with what you are planning. We can tweak it if you have suggestions of course. --Sigilbaram (talk) 16:19, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
Awesome, awesome. Omniomi (talk)
The only issue is that the data team is a bit busy so not sure how soon we'll get stuff from them or what the data is structured like. A lot of the data dump stuff is handled in the Hero data template though while the infobox focuses on building the infobox and populating SMW properties and we can probably abstract a lot of what whatever the data team ends up giving us so that when we get that it shouldn't effect the infobox much. --Sigilbaram (talk) 16:30, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
I'm thinking it could work with the data dump... fill anything missing, correct anything wrong, etc. The infoboxes would be in the main namespace anyway... untouched unless desired. Omniomi (talk)
I see we're all installed. Thanks! Omniomi (talk)
I just looked at the HotS data templates and how they're used... If that's what we can expect from the dump perhaps I'll just hold off. I can help with the data presentation and all of the data reliant templates and forms but if the dump can save all of the fiddly property input then it should come first. Right now I am working on some beautification stuff--currency and so on--so it will keep me busy anyway. Any timeline on the dump? Omniomi (talk)
There is no timeline sadly. But hopefully not OVERLY long. In the mean time I'm also working on beautifying some things. User:Sigilbaram/sandbox for example. --Sigilbaram (talk) 17:12, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
Thank you! I have been trying to figure out how to do this for like a week. lol - Mtm0860 (talk) 21:05, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
Which part where you trying to figur out? --Sigilbaram (talk) 21:07, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
I was trying to figure out how to do the items/templates but Mainly so I could do tooltips like all of the Warcraft wikis :P. - Mtm0860 (talk) 21:26, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
Oooh. If there is ever anything you want to know how to do feel free to ask. We can definitely put together tooltip templates and such. --Sigilbaram (talk) 21:33, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
Just a note that Semantic Wiki is pretty complex... I think the best thing to do for now is wait for the data dump at which point focus can be put on presentation instead of committing a bunch of work that will be overwritten by the data. I can also give you a hand if you ever have questions, I'm just a contributor here but I've been an admin on an Alexa top 150 wiki for 5-6 years and I run a couple of my own wiki's so quite comfortable with them. Omniomi (talk) 21:39, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
I've been spending a chunk of my time just seeing how the game works and stuff really. Once we know more about what we will and will not have we can start building up some of this other stuff. Really there are a lot of SMW property names that shouldn't change no matter what format the data dump comes in in, so we could start building some of the templates. The data team also tends to talk with me about if the format they are doing is workable for the wiki. --Sigilbaram (talk) 22:40, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
Want to chat a bit later? Can communicate via GTalk, Skype, TeamSpeak, Steam Chat, or whatever... Easier than User_talk messages lol. My email is my username @gmail.com feel free to hit me up Omniomi (talk) 22:42, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
Skype would be the best of those. My Skype name is . --Sigilbaram (talk) 22:45, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
Deal, busy for a few hours but will ping you afterward... if you're not around we'll aim for tomorrow. Omniomi (talk) 22:46, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
Homepage[]
Hey, was super sick yesterday with food poisoning and didn't do anything but sleep so fell a bit behind. Going to work on those designs today. -Omniomi (talk) 18:55, 10 May 2014 (UTC)
It's fine. Hope you are feeling better.
I just look at the front page and thing "wow that is a lot of links" and haven't had any inspiration come to mind on what to do with them to make it more presentable. --Sigilbaram (talk) 21:13, 10 May 2014 (UTC)
Infobox cost[]
Hey, just thinking looking at Elk, we should use just the number (ie, 1000) in the cost field and process the {{coin|}} in the template so that the coin template isn't stored in the associated property.
Also, started playing with ideas for the main page, Mtm0860 has concerns which you can see on my userpage. I explained I was not going to make any dramatic changes without consultation, just putting ideas down. -Omniomi (talk) 04:03, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
Your right about the cost thing. I had a moment. I'll work on that stuff more tomorrow. Was kind of busy this weekend. --Sigilbaram (talk) 07:27, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
Admin Permissions[]
I applied for Admin about a week ago and just wanted to know if i´m alrdy denied because i didn´t received a answer yet.
I just missed it among the other emails I have from that extension (it is a bit spammy since it emails all of the wiki managers for various things that happen on all 160+ wikis on Gamepedia). You said that you haven't been an admin before, but have you worked on other wikis as an editor? It seems like you are familiar with the table syntax and such. --Sigilbaram (talk) 17:35, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
Sry for the late answer but im a bit busy writing my final exams... But anyway! Like mentioned before i don´t have any experience on editing wikis besides ArcheAge´s, but i get rly addicted to things i like and when this happens i learn everything i have to know. Next week i will finish my last exam and after that i will dedicate my freetime to this wiki. When you are a bit curious about giving me admin rights i will appreciate your decision but just want you to do me a favor... Please add the Trade Packages i created to the Trading section on the main page :) THX Sincerely Sky --SkyFlyerDE (talk) 20:33, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
Mobile Home Page[]
The Mobile Home Page is blank, I feel it would be better to even have a list of what is on the desktop page, then to have nothing. Fahv (talk) 06:43, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
Bah. Sorry. I'll fix that. The extension we use for the mobile front page is kind of clunky and if you don't set up the main page the default is for it to display nothing... It's really obnoxious. --Sigilbaram (talk)
Data dump[]
Hey, any word on the data dump? User:Rubyka is keen to start documenting a number of things related to farming and commerce but don't want her time to be wasted if the dump is right around the corner. -Omniomi (talk) 00:11, 13 August 2014 (UTC)
Oh hello. Why am I not getting emails for these lately... Anyway. The data dump just went through today. --Sigilbaram (talk) 20:04, 25 August 2014 (UTC)
Data dump (bis)[]
Hello, we are working on a craft tool for our guild that would require items DB as well as recipes DB (going from a final item down to all craft/farming operations required as well as estimating labor points needed). As we are unable to find that kind of dump on Internet, we were wandering if you would agree to share those data with us. Feel free to contact me at "My Username"(at)gmail(dot)com if you want further information.
Regards,
Duncane
News question[]
I tried to update news page but not all the news is being posted at the archeagegame site. With the recent updates the news has been posted on trionworlds.com/archeage/. I managed to figure that the Official: links to archeagegame but I didn't find out how to create a second link to match the trionworld path. Is it possible to add another one so we can link all the news? --Johnnei (talk) 07:48, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
New layout[]
I think the layout looks very neat but I did notice that infoboxes basically can't have links in them now. If you'd take a quick look at Fabric Pack you can see that the link to the Tailoring proficiency page is nearly invisible. Should the template be updated to force it into a different color or should the global css file be changed so that all infoboxes can have links? --Johnnei (talk) 09:52, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
Odd. It wasn't really telling me I had a message... We'll have to figure something out for the infoboxes. The new background colors don't really work well with the in game text colors, but like you said, the new link color doesn't work well on the old infoboxes with the white background. --Sigilbaram (talk) 18:19, 11 October 2014 (UTC)
Equipment page link on the front page[]
Hey, noticed someone edited and changed the front page, not sure if it was you but I believe you can help. Previously in the front page there was a link to the Equipment page, now there isn't. That page is considerably refined already (compared to the other pages related to equipment) and for this reason I believe a link to it should be on the front page. What do you think? Raphaell666 (talk) 13:32, 13 October 2014 (UTC)
Oops! I forgot to make the headings links. I'll put those back in. Thanks for pointing it out. --Sigilbaram (talk) 13:58, 13 October 2014 (UTC)
Wrong Information[]
I just read the Justice System Page and noticed there is something wrong. I am a pirate and i can own farms and houses and everything even on the main continents, there are even housing spots on the pirate island.
I'm not personally familiar with what pirates can and cannot do, but I'll remove the point about not being able to own land from that page. You are free to edit pages yourself, though. If you followed the notice at the top of the site to my talk page, that was more referring to errors with the wiki's skin, since not everyone can edit the skin. --Sigilbaram (talk) 15:35, 20 October 2014 (UTC)
Item Pages[]
Hallowtide Giftpack
The Use field isnt showing on the template.... also how would I show the amount of credits it costs in the marketplace?
I've been trying to think of the best way to display the Use field. We don't have a way to display credit costs yet, but we could probably use "credit cost". I'll add that quick. --Sigilbaram (talk) 02:04, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
And "credit cost" is a thing now. --Sigilbaram (talk) 02:09, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
For the use field you can make it look like:
Use
Just make it fancier rofl. Also can you make is so that if the template has a value in the credit cost or loyalty cost field it automatically adds it to the category:Marketplace?Tythesly (talk) 20:15, 3 November 2014 (UTC)
I've added that item infoboxes with a non empty credit cost will be added to the category:Marketplace --Johnnei (talk) 10:15, 4 November 2014 (UTC)
Thanks!!! Might want to do the same for the loyalty section of the marketplace too (for item infobox and the category)! I would do it but i'm not experienced with template coding yet xD
Tythesly (talk) 03:22, 5 November 2014 (UTC)
(This colon counting becomes tedious), I know the feel. I first created the {{Craft infobox}} to get used to the template system (and its whitespace issues). I've added the loyalty cost to the item infobox (and layout) and they'll be registered to Category:Marketplace when supplied. --Johnnei (talk) 14:24, 5 November 2014 (UTC)
Thanks Johnnei. And once the colons get to 5 or 6 you can reset them to 0, they don't keep going forever. haha --Sigilbaram (talk) 17:25, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
Categories...[]
Whats your opinion for this idea for categories? Just take a quick look at this page here: http://www.zam.com/wiki/Category:Items_%28RoM%29
When I helped with this wiki we found it easier to category like that... For example a Swords Categories would be: Items, Sword, and Weapon, (And if you want to be super organized even put the slot category: 1-H Weapon). The sword category will be a sub category for Item Types and then Item Types will be a subcategory for Items. Tythesly (talk) 19:48, 3 November 2014 (UTC)
I normally only put items in the leaf category (in your example that would be Swords), and then the Swords category would be in 1-H Weapons etc. To me all swords are 1-H Weapons so putting the sword itself in both categories seems redundant and just creates very large categories? That is just me though and if you guys want to do it that way that is fine, since this is something that varies from wiki to wiki. --Sigilbaram (talk) 17:50, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
The current category is just confusing me a little... Items---Equipment--Weapon----Sword----Greatsword.... just seems like it needs some love... We can keep doing it your way... I just don't want to miscategorize. Also it seems like the Equipment category took over for Items... How is Lumber a piece of equipment lol... that should be under Raw goods but even that category is under Equipment lol.--Tythesly (talk) 23:42, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
I'm not sure how Greatswords ended up under Swords... or how all this random stuff ended up in equipment... I'll have to work on these. --Sigilbaram (talk) 19:10, 9 November 2014 (UTC)
What do you guys think the category names should look like? Should they be like Health potions, Healing Potions, or maybe even Healing Potion? --Sigilbaram (talk) 19:23, 9 November 2014 (UTC)
I say start with capital letter and end with lowercase plural. And the category should match its item type. I say plural because that category will list every item with that type. I just need to know how you want to work it. Are we going to change equipment to items or keep them separate???--Tythesly (talk) 01:32, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
Hey, sorry, was away for few days. I moved a lot of stuff that was in equipment when it shouldn't have been to the items category. I'll work on adjusting the category names so they all use that case and pluralization. --Sigilbaram (talk) 02:02, 13 November 2014 (UTC)
I made some category changes a while ago... I might have messed some up so if you want to take a look that would be cool lol. If you can just check out my changes with the search...--Tythesly (talk) 02:19, 13 November 2014 (UTC)
How did you find the Hallowtide Giftpack icon? Tythesly (talk) 21:13, 3 November 2014 (UTC)
Furniture[]
Sorry to keep bothering you lol.... But how would I fill in the template for furniture??? Ancient Tombstone. Tythesly (talk) 21:33, 3 November 2014 (UTC)
I ask because the shop value (shop price in game) isnt showing up... also should I put the placement and what happens if its destroyed in the description section? Tythesly (talk) 03:21, 5 November 2014 (UTC)
The sell price variables had some name conflicts in them template which are fixed now. The placement and such are just part of the item's description. (forgot to sign) --Sigilbaram (talk) 19:57, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
Item not updating....[]
Peppermint_Bracelet This wont update to the correct stats... also this page looked really difference before I manually added the fields... So the data dump misses something. Tythesly (talk) 00:37, 4 November 2014 (UTC)
I'm looking at it trying to determine which parameters are working correctly. What errors are you seeing? I did fixed the "Binds on" error. --Sigilbaram (talk) 01:35, 4 November 2014 (UTC)
The table layout did not look like it does now... Maybe when I saved my edits it forced a refresh or something. So if I want to update the item to the correct stats I need to update its data page? Because its sell price, defense, and magic defense stats are wrong. Should be shop value = 15, defense = 3, and magic defense = 15
Tythesly (talk) 01:43, 4 November 2014 (UTC)
The table layout changes a bit once certain parameters are present, like "Slot" adds the "Equipment Info" section header. As for the stats, stats in the data are for items of basic quality. We have to somehow get stats to display differently for items that have a higher grade than basic, like Peppermint Bracelet which is always Grand. For now you can use "force <parameter>" to make it display correctly. We should put items with forced parameters in a category so we can remember to remove "force" later, though, like Category:Items with forced parameters.
Also, when you are entering an item's rarity you can use "grand" instead of "2". The number form is included for compatability with the data dump. --Sigilbaram (talk) 01:47, 4 November 2014 (UTC)
Unknown Error[]
Worker's Compensation - Error says - "" cannot be used as a property name in this wiki. Tythesly (talk) 01:27, 6 November 2014 (UTC)
This means there is something that looks like [[::sometext]] somewhere. I'll poke around {{item infobox}} to figure out where it is coming from. --Sigilbaram (talk) 17:16, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
The error is related to the forced minimum level field. When I remove the force part of it the error is gone however the minimum level does not show. Even when the field is blank it still gives the error when the force parameter is used. Hopefully that helps you find the problem. Also why did you switch the description back to the use field?Tythesly (talk) 19:01, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
Ah ok, I'll poke at force part then. And, I was working on a quick fix to display the use field when I got distracted... >.< --Sigilbaram (talk) 20:11, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
I had a special moment it looks like: (diff) --Sigilbaram (talk) 20:30, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
Lol well hey at least you found it xD... And hey sorry for coming here out of the blue and tossing so many things at you guys lol. Thanks for putting up with me.Tythesly (talk) 20:45, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
Infoboxes 2[]
Is it possible to format the infoboxes for the item infobox template to make it look like the tooltip ingame? Then you can put in that use field too xD Tythesly (talk) 02:19, 6 November 2014 (UTC)
We've been discussing to use User:Sigilbaram/infobox this for the {{item infobox/layout}} but we haven't converted it yet as it will require major effort to trasnlate all the parameters over into it. --Johnnei (talk) 08:11, 6 November 2014 (UTC)
As I've finished the documentation for the item infobox today I feel confident enough about that template to know what the layout template actually supports (and processes). I'll start working on the new layout for the item infobox. --Johnnei (talk) 16:45, 6 November 2014 (UTC)
Sorry. I was on a plane most the day yesterday, so I didn't get a chance to get back to you guys. There is already some style in MediaWiki:Common.css for this. I have a mockup started on User:Sigilbaram/infobox. If you haven't already started working on this I can start it today. --Sigilbaram (talk) 17:20, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
I've already started on it in {{item infobox/layout2}} and I've used the one on your page as base layout. Got about 8-9 fields in it right now but I need to find a field which is registered on all items so I can reset the table widths to 50/50 as right now they 50px (the icon size + 2px) and the rest for the 2nd column. --Johnnei (talk) 19:41, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
What I was thinking of doing was making the infobox be a div and making each section of it a separate table, or at least making the top part with the name and icon a separate table, since it has fairly different proportions to its columns. The tables would just have transparent backgrounds and no borders. while the div provided the "box". --Sigilbaram (talk) 19:50, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
Also, as far as the 50% width thing, that might be much easier to accomplish using CSS since CSS doesn't rely on a give column being present, so we can add something for that to MediaWiki:Common.css once we know the structure of the infobox. --Sigilbaram (talk) 20:00, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
During development of the infobox I'll probably just define the css in the page itself then until it's finalized and then move it over to the common.css file. --Johnnei (talk) 20:33, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
That works, especially since we've been having some delay in the CSS updating lately. I'm currently waiting for the text below "Use" in the description of Worker's Compensation to turn green, for example. --Sigilbaram (talk)
I've noticed that if you use "Refresh" from the extra options that it will force mediawiki to purge the cached result for that page. I had a couple of times that my changes didn't apply until I did that :p --Johnnei (talk) 20:38, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
Might i suggest this color as a closer match to the color in game?Tythesly (talk) 20:56, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
Little note apparently the parses doesn't allow me to add style scripts in it so I'll just use comments to remember which sections I want to move over to the css file. --Johnnei (talk) 21:14, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
Oh ok. I was refering to the Common.css file that Sigilbaram edited a little while ago. He added .itemtt-use, this color which reminds me too much of pea soup xD. Thats why I used Instant Eyedropper to find a closer color to the game.Which is #92B34B lol... However now that im looking at it there isnt much of a difference shown here... yet on Worker's Compensation it looks different. Maybe would work rofl.--Tythesly (talk) 21:37, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
It isn't really a pretty color in game, it just that having it against a grey-blue background instead of a brown background makes it look even worse... This is temporary though, the new infobox will have a brown background like it does in the game, so the uglyness will be less noticeable once again. Also, the slight difference you got with the eyedropper is probably due to the antialiasing of the font and things like that. I think the guy who does the datadump gave me a list of hex color codes, though I'm not finding it at the moment. I'll look around for that more so that we can make sure we have the exact colors. --Sigilbaram (talk) 21:51, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
A complete (to the best of our knowledge) list of text colors used by the game:
#00ff45, #ff9c27, #00ff44, #f5cb65, #97d5f9, #919191, #8dab43, #c13d36, #ff0000, #1676ad, #723f05, #9fc93c, #949293, #ff5e00, #ffbb00, #cca63d, #8fa5ca, #ff9c52, #ed492e, #fc9215, #ff6600, #ff5527, #4d4d4d, #8f8f8f, #ab5757, #83dd5f, #bb3939, #fddf90, #d45151, #ffc337, #2c6488, #27d8ce, #ffffff, #2cf5d7, #e37000, #d18d09
--Sigilbaram (talk) 22:02, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
I've decided to go for a slight modification for your layout suggestion: I've made the parent tag a div which contains the entire infobox (that element also has the infobox2 class), within that I defined the header and then started the table. It will just be a single table below that as I don't see any benefit from separating them as it might cause inconsistent widths, and that looks ugly :p --Johnnei (talk) 09:00, 8 November 2014 (UTC)
Yeah. There really isn't much point to having anything besides the name/icon/type be separated I don't think. --Sigilbaram (talk) 17:32, 8 November 2014 (UTC)
The {{item infobox/layout2}} is now supporting a little bit more fields than the current layout. I've added the css to the common.css file. Will wait for a couple of hours to let peoples cache get refreshed. Once I get home I will apply the change from layout to layout2. --Johnnei (talk) 11:53, 11 November 2014 (UTC)
Rollout failed, saw a lot of items falling apart due to unexpected input in the templates. now made a sandbox template of the {{item infobox}} to fix those issues first. --Johnnei (talk) 09:10, 12 November 2014 (UTC)
Did some testing in a sandbox and now I've rolled it out again. The vast majority of the templates display correctly. Did notice that cooldown parameter is being dodgy. --Johnnei (talk) 12:49, 12 November 2014 (UTC)
It looks awesome!!!--Tythesly (talk) 18:44, 12 November 2014 (UTC)
Nice work. XD --Sigilbaram (talk) 19:47, 13 November 2014 (UTC)
Finally...[]
Well until I can translate Korean without google translate messing it up I cant tell what they change in its files...
Comparefiles
But i can tell when they add items.
Newitems
I finally found a working DDS converter so now I can help with icons. How do you upload so many at a time? Is there a multi-upload file page?Tythesly (talk) 02:50, 6 November 2014 (UTC)
They use scripts and a program that they wrote, which reads the game client data, converts it to wiki pages, and then connects to the wiki via the bot API in order to upload everything. I uploaded various icons myself using the "Drop Files Here..." box that appears over the edit box. If you use that on a category page then the images you upload with it will be added to that category. I used it for each of the weapon icon categories, for example, so that the images were categories instead of in Special:UncategorizedFiles.--Sigilbaram (talk) 17:12, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
I found it... I dont have to worry about translating korean.... Tythesly (talk) 22:08, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
Epicfindever
Yeah it figures that there is a key/value table for the strings. Vindictus was similar, except the English text was in a .txt file in CVS format instead of in the database. --Sigilbaram (talk) 22:10, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
  • The color of text in the tooltips... like duration (ie 60secs) or stat increases (ie +15%) and those found in the use field (ie heals 1,000 points) is #ff9c27
  • The lighter text in tooltips - Like in Tempering Burnish Tooltip description is #f5CB65
I don't think ill ever find the color for the regular text in the use section lol.--Tythesly (talk) 00:11, 8 November 2014 (UTC)
Translation[]
With this localized text file I can provide limited data in other languages? If your interested that is.--Tythesly (talk) 23:06, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
Icons[]
Every now and then I come across an icon which is missing but I don't have access to the nice ones. Currently I use screenshots and photoshop to cut them out nicely but still the dump ones look better. So I'd like to know which tool you use to dump the icon so I can upload better icons --Johnnei (talk) 15:49, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
I get them from the games files myself. I just use a dds converter to change them into png files. If you need any just let me know and I will upload asap.--Tythesly (talk) 21:49, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
Iconexample
Ill be back soon... hopefully lol[]
I think my account was banned xD... Ive been sitting in the starting area for weeks working on the items that I think they thought i was a bot... I can log on but when I choose a character the game gives me an error.... hopefully support will answer my ticket soon... I have some tickets that are about a month old and still waiting to be answered.--22:44, 17 December 2014 (UTC)
Wow... That sucks. You probably already tried reinstalling and such? If you were banned that's just special... >.< --Sigilbaram (talk) 00:03, 18 December 2014 (UTC)
They are looking into it now... They guy said something might have happened with the server when I was logging off and something didn't send right... who knows lol. At least I can help with missing item icons xD. What happened to Johnnei??? He seemed to have disappeared for the last 23 days :(..... Maybe Family Time. -- Tythesly (talk) 23:02, 22 December 2014 (UTC)
General Chit-chat?[]
I'm gunna start updating the Wiki now that Fresh Start has happened on EU / NA, hopefully get things up to date with the current state of the game --Corbra (talk) 16:00, 13 December 2016 (GMT)
Hey, I just got here. I'm going to try to help periodically (looks like you guys could use a hand). I'll be focusing on Handicraft Kiln and it's items for no reason in particular. If you need help somewhere I think I'll be able to help. maybe. --GameOverZI (talk) 02:17, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
Welcome to the Wiki!!! Glad to hear another dedicated gamer is willing to help out the wiki. Our numbers are short and few (I was recently banned because they thought I was a bot in the game... I never left the starting area because I was working on item and skill sections xD.... I am in the appeal process though). If you ever need any help please don't hesitate to ask! Lately it seems I am a little more active than the usual admins... don't know why but I know that they live busy lives lol.--Tythesly (talk) 22:31, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
Well, actually, I was wondering if there were any dropdown lists that could be made for the bottom of related pages(like crafting or places (this is the best example I can find http://www.mariowiki.com/Gooper_Blooper#Trivia)). I think it could be useful. Then again I'm just a n00b here:P.--GameOverZI (talk) 22:13, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
Those are navboxes and for the most part they are just tables with some styling to make them look a little nicer. When you said drop down list I was afraid you meant comboboxes (like what you use to pick the language in your preferences), which aren't made for navigation, and seeing them used for such drives me crazy. I'll add some CSS for navboxes. --Sigilbaram (talk) 19:21, 2 February 2015 (UTC)
And that is added. There is an example of one here. User:Sigilbaram/navbox. --Sigilbaram (talk) 19:43, 2 February 2015 (UTC)
Updating the wiki's information[]
Hey there!
I've been on occasion updating the "official" wiki over on Trion's servers (or at least as much as allowed by users). Considering how their back-end there is out of date and doesn't support some features I feel would be beneficial to the wiki for users, I'm wondering if I could help with the wiki here.
With the game currently running on update 4.5, a lot of stuff has been removed, changed, replaced, and so on. So there's actually quite a bit to do. Thanks for your time
- neoVictrix
Hello and welcome to the wiki! I am no longer with Gamepedia's staff and I am not active on ArcheAge or this wiki anymore. I'd suggested you get in touch with User:Malvodion instead. It looks like he's the Wiki Manager for this wiki now and can help with tech support, editing tips, extensions, etc. You're also welcome to start updating things in the mean time (Be bold). --Sigilbaram (talk) 00:36, 25 April 2018 (UTC)
