Armor

Any class can wear any type of armor, it's not like in most of the MMO games where a priest can wear only cloth and a tank only plate armor, you can wear any type of armor in ArcheAge independently from the class you choose.

There are 3 types of armor in the game:

  • Plate
  • Leather
  • Robe

And there are 7 type of armor pieces:

  • Helmet
  • Chest
  • Belt
  • Bracers
  • Gloves
  • Pants
  • Shoes

Bonuses

Each armor type offers a bonuses for wearing that armor type. The bonus is gained when 4/7 of your equipment is one type and upgraded to a strong buff at 7/7.

  • Plate 4/7: Physical defense increased by by 3%.
  • Plate 7/7: Physical defense increased by by 3%. Maximum HP increased by 3%.
  • Leather 4/7: Chance to dodge increased by 3%.
  • Leather 7/7: Chance to dodge increased by 3%. Ranged attack distance increased by 3m. Chance to deal critical strikes increased by 5%.
  • Cloth 4/7: Cast time reduced by 4%. Chance to interrupt casting when hit by an enemy is reduced by 50%.
  • Cloth 7/7: Cast time reduced by 4%. Chance to interrupt casting when hit by an enemy is reduced by 50%. Magical damage increased by 5%. The duration of the effects of control reduced by 30%.

Also to note that Robe armor has low Physical Defense base values and high Magical Defense base values, while the Plate armor has high Physical Defense and low Magical Defense base values, and ofc the Leather armor is somewhere between these two.[1]
