Combat Strategies[]

Combat strategies can be divided between boat combat and water combat, but usually people use a mix of the two depending on the enemy and situation.

Boat Combat[]

Shooting boats until they die.

Definition: Most of the DPS and fighting is made in, from or on the boats, transitioning to water when needed.

The strategy to PvE is pretty simple, shoot the cannons and repair boat. The strategy for Pvp is mostly to shoot cannons of people swimming on top of the water and to Ram/board any boat which may have enemies

Components:

  • The Cannoneers - who shoot the cannons.
  • The Drivers - who controls the boat(s) and use the figurehead skills.
  • The Healers - well... the healers, that recover people's HP.
  • The Mappers- The one who stays at the telescope marking where enemies and allies are, and where to go.
  • The Boarders/Repairers - The people who will jump in case the boat crashes into a enemy boat, and those who usually repair the boat if it goes low on HP
Pros Cons
Can be used effectively with a group lacking equipment points Requires a top boat to be as useful. Nothing less than an epic-legendary boat.
Easy to do and can be extremely effective if well organized Hard to master and organize.
The most mobile of all strategies, boats can be quite fast Quite weak to the other strategies., if they are caught, slowed down or ancored
If not stopped, the boat can be a constant harasser to the enemy Prone to having people Afking in some part of the boat and not helping.
Transitioning to water pvp is usually slow, which give the advantage to those already in the water.

Water Combat[]

Very angry people in and under the water.

Definition: Most of the DPS and fighting is made in, from or on the water, transitioning to boats when needed.

This is a primarily PvP strategy, where instead of using boats to fight, people regroup in a tight group and just swim around to clear an area or an enemy. When the enemy players are dealt with, boats may be summoned to destroy enemy boats, and kill monsters (like luscas).

Components:

  • The PVP team - People who will group up and attack the enemy.
  • The Mappers- The one who stays at the telescope marking where enemies and allies are, and where to go. (usually in a boat far from the PVP group, giving directions)
  • The Boarders - Tanks and iniciators who will CC the crew of boats so even if the boats try to run, most of the crew will stay in the water or the PVP team to wipe out.
  • The Ressers - people who will stay out of combat at all times, resurrecting all who happen to die in the assaults.Usually 1 or 2 soothsayers
Pros Cons
Can be used effectively with a group lacking good boats Requires good equipment points or higher numbers to be effective
Easy to do and can be extremely effective if well organized Hard to master and organize.
Garantee that enemies will not get too close of a given area

and to have not many people coming back from nui.

The slowest of all the strategies, the people on boats can easily outmanuever you.
Players will have to be submerged at almost all points, by spending dahuta's bubbles,

to avoid shelling damage

Transitioning to boat combat is usually slow, which may give time for the enemies

to kill the boat before the repair group can do anything

Other combat strategies:[]

Harpooning:[]

A small warships with legendary or above harpoons may use them to completely stop boats (by anchoring or harpooning rocks/oceanfloor), moving boats (by harpooning and using the strength of your boat to surpass the one harpooned) or slowing them down (by working as a weight to be carried by the harpooned boat), giving enough time to water teams to catch it.

It can be used with clippers, merchant ships and fishing boats to slow down vessels, but it is not as useful because people tend to just jump from the vessel and attack the harpooner.

Ramming:[]

The act of hitting a boat with your own in order to move it or change the enemy's trajectory. Also used to board.

This tactic is better used with ships or gear used for this tactic, f.e. the Turtleship.
